Mientras China y Europa preparan la vuelta a la normalidad tras la cuarentena y aislamiento obligatorio por la pandemia Covid-19, este viernes la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) aseguró que América del Sur es "el nuevo epicentro del coronavirus" en el mundo. <\/p>\n

“Sudamérica se convirtió en un nuevo epicentro de la enfermedad. Vemos el número de casos aumentar en muchos países sudamericanos”, declaró el responsable de situaciones de emergencia de la OMS, Michael Ryan, en teleconferencia desde Ginebra.<\/p>\n

El crecimiento exponencial de casos positivos y muertes en el país que conduce Jaír Bolsonaro, que ya tiene más de 312 mil casos confirmados y 20.112 muertes en todo el territorio, es lo que más preocupa al organismo. <\/p>\n

En ese sentido, Ryan precisó que "hay mucha preocupación en torno a esos países, pero claramente el más afectado por el momento es Brasil", que en 24 horas, el jueves, registró el triste récord de 1.188 decesos.<\/p>\n

“La mayoría de casos son de la región de Sao Paulo”, indicó Ryan. “Pero en términos de porcentajes, los índices más elevados se hallan en Amazonas: unas 450 personas infectadas por cada 100.000 habitantes, lo que significa un porcentaje bastante alto”, añadió.<\/p>\n

Según los últimos datos de la OMS, en América se registraron 2.220.267 casos positivos y 131.605 muertes. En tanto, a nivel global hay 4.993.470 infectados y 327.738 fallecimientos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
