Investigadores del centro de estudios de la Universidad de Basilea, la Escuela Politécnica Federal de Zúrich y el consorcio español SeqCovid-Spain, liderado por el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), informaron que a partir de la relajación de las restricciones de viaje en verano, y el hecho de que España sea un importante destino turístico, se expandiió una nueva variante del genoma del virus Covid-19. <\/p>\n

Se trata de una de las cientas de mutaciones del coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, causante del COVID-19. Según los investigadores, esta nueva cepa está presente actualmente en la segunda oleada que vive Europa, que comenzó primero en España, de acuerdo a un estudio de científicos españoles y suizos hecho público hoy en medRxiv.<\/p>\n

El director de SeqCovid-Spain, Iñaki Comas, coautor del estudio, añadió que las pautas de esta mutación son similares a otras que identificaron en anteriores estudios durante la primavera. "Una variante del virus, ayudada por un evento superpropagador, puede rápidamente ser prevalente por todo un país", señaló Comas. <\/p>\n

En este contezto, desde Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) aseguraron que las muertes diarias por COVID-19 en Europa habían aumentado en casi un 40 por ciento en una semana. En consecuencia, el organismo llamó este lunes a “no bajar los brazos en la lucha contra un coronavirus que estrecha cada vez más el cerco en Europa, pone a la economía contra las cuerdas, desata protestas e incluso se politiza”.<\/p>\n

Además, la doctora Margaret Harris de la organización advirtió que Francia, España, el Reino Unido, los Países Bajos y Rusia habían experimentado algunos de los aumentos más significativos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
